Happy Chinese New Year! Last night I had dinner at Beijing in Chinatown in celebration of the Chinese New Year. Originally I wanted to do a restaurant review but we had a special pre-ordered organized by 2 foodie friends. Beijing is actully a favorite place of mine and one day I’ll [...] Last Saturday I took out the Cheap Ethnic Eatz group to the Château Ramezay Museum which currently has an exposition devoted to the eating habits of our settlers and the culinary influences that shaped todays Quebec cuisine. Funny enough this was my 2nd visit here, the 1st was only 3 weeks ago. Yes a museum in my hometown [...] A little while back I received an invitation to a Macaron book launch. The book was the work of my two favourite Macaron makers in Montreal…Gaëlle and Johan Crop of La Maison du Macaron in the Plateau. At the book launch I met the PR team which was kind enough to send me a copy [...] Today I had brunch with a friend near one of Montreal”s biggest makrets: the Atwater Market. In the summer it is briming with produce sold by the local farmers outside. At this tme of the year that space was replaced with Chistmas trees salemans. But there is an indoor part with several great butchers, spice [...] Another long overdue post delayed by my hosting fiasco… I had the pleasure a couple of week back to meet a fellow food blogger who had mentioned she would be in Montreal for a conference. After a few very pleasant comments and email exchanges Mardi of Eat, Live, Travel, Write let this little information slip. Right [...] With the host site transfer I lost 1 post and this was it…so can’t remeber what I wrote…its a new one lol. A few month’s back I came across a segment on CTV news called Sunday Bite which ”explores the many ingredients of Montreal’s food scene”. There was an idea submission form. So I filled it out [...] Its soon holiday season and we are all going to be running around getting ready to cook, shop and celebrate. Make sure to come to our Holiday dinner at Atti But we do not always think of giving to those in need. Last year I started a fund at Kiva under the name of Cheap Ethnic [...] I mentioned a couple of days I had two exciting evening in a row but I only gave you part of the info. Well if you know me in real life you are probably nodding your head right now and laughing. What does it have to do with this post. Well I am only going to tell you half a story…the rest will be revealed in 2 separate blogs. Tonight [...] Just over an hour ago Canada’s 10 Best New Restaurants were officially announced. This prestigious list is published now annually on Air Canada’s enRoute magazine. So exciting. And the great news for Montreal and Quebec? We took 2 spots!
