Toronto Poutine?Poutine from La Banquise Poutine from La Banquise I was just forwarded a link to an article about a restaurant chain in Toronto that serves exclusively poutine. Funny enough the person who sent it to me is a co-worker who lives in Toronto but spends every other month up in Montreal (lucky him!) This place is called Smoke’s Poutinerie. Anne Marie Males’ Review says: What you get here is a choice of 16 poutine flavours, ranging from the traditional (gravy and cheese curds only — $5.45 for the small which is plenty big enough and $6.95 for the large) to the exotic like prime beef with sauteed mushrooms and caramelized onions or the triple pork, with chipotle pulled pork, double-smoked bacon and Italian sausage. Now I am not a big fan of this traditionally associated Quebecois dish…but I do get a severe craving maybe twice a year. So I am not the leading authority to give an opinion. You won’t find a food critique here because I just am not right now in the same town nor have I ever visited this restaurant. BUT…I am miffed on 2 points.
Please, no, don’t throw the rotten tomato at me! ha ha ha…you missed! (I have freinds in Toronto who read my blog, the joke is aimed at them…do not take offence lol) 7 comments to Toronto Poutine? |

Oh no, we’re so boring in Toronto that we don’t have more than one place to buy nothing but poutine. Whatever shall we do??? Love you, Sis.
Hey, not every neighbourhood in Toronto is boring! Remember Greektown?
Perth can be pretty boring, maybe I should open a poutinerie here.
I remember when the Montreal Gazette and the Toronto Globe and Mail did a “bagel-off”, where they blind-tasted bagels from both cities to decide which were better. Obviously, it was Montreal hands-down (St-Viateur Bagel for the win!).
I’ve lived here for 11 years and I’ve only ever had poutine once – and it was one of the weird ones at La Banquise, with peas, chicken and cream. I love French fries (who doesn’t), but poutine has never been attractive to me…
Now Sam, no offense, as I said I was bugging specific people, not you lol. Greektown was a blast indeed in great company!
@Sam, Unfortunately I wasn’t with Evelyne in Greektown when she was visiting with me, but I will concede to the fact that at least we do have a Greektown rather than none at all. There’s also Little India, Little Italy, Little Portugal, Chinatown, and much, much more. Right?
Hi… people of Toronto, I found a real gem in Toronto “Poutine Plus” on Queen st. and Bathurst. We were there Saturday night the line went out the door, but it moved fast.
They have the best poutine I had in Toronto, the fries are crispy and the gravy is very tasty with beef in it. I like it better then that chicken sauce in Montreal.
They also have nice hot sandwiches and hot dogs from Nathan’s, you the guys from New York.
CHECK IT OUT THE BEST GRAVY IN TORONTO FOR SURE !!!
